Welcome to Academic Tutoring & SAT/ACT Prep

How it works

Session are one hour (longer available on request) and take place in your home. Each lesson is built around a 2-4 page on-paper activity (no AI or chromebooks!) divided into a 1-page "learning" section and a longer "practice" section, tailored to your student's performance from the week before that includes review material, application of "learning" section content, and 30-minutes or less of homework—its summer, so I keep it light. I understand that each student's learning needs are different, so every lesson is unique to each student! 

The first session

The first session looks a little different. For academic tutoring, older students complete a short 15-minute diagnostic while I talk with you about logistics, answer any questions, and just chat—I want you to feel confident about who's coming to your home before we get started. Younger students skip the diagnostic and jump straight into learning. SAT/ACT student will take a full practice test before we ever meet, so I can gcome to the first lesson ready to walk through the results—what went well, where the gaps are, and exactly what we'll work on going forward. Whatever the subject, what I learn on Day 1 shapes everything that follows.

Experience

I tutored math and Spanish for three years at Hersey high School, and now work with families across the Northwest suburbs in math, Spanish, and English. I graduated from Hersey with highest honors, a 1550 SAT, 35 ACT, and now am an Echols honors Scholar at the University of Virginia. I know this material, and I know what it takes to succeed with it.
